What it's for
People look up a website's hosting to report abuse or copyright infringement to the right company, to research competitors, to plan a migration, or simply out of curiosity. Hosting Detector answers that in one step, for any website or IP address.
We also keep pages for hundreds of the most visited websites and the networks that serve them, re-checked every week, and a report on how they're hosted.
How it works
Lookups use public DNS records and IP address data from IPinfo, refreshed weekly. We detect CDNs that hide the real host and say so, rather than guessing. Read how we check.
Limitations
- When a website sits behind a CDN, the company hosting its own servers can't be seen, and we don't try to uncover it.
- Large websites answer from different servers in different places; our checks run from Europe.
- Network data describes who announces an IP address. Usually that's the host, but a reseller's customers appear under the network they rent from.
- Pages for popular websites show our latest weekly check; use the live check on any page for the current answer.
Who runs it
Hosting Detector is an independent project. Pages may include affiliate links to hosting providers, which never affect the results; see the affiliate disclosure.
